Christmas is by far my favourite holiday! There are many reason why I love it and yet I have been struggling to put it into words why it is so special. The words started to come together on Christmas Eve, there still not perfect but I think you will get the idea.
When Jake and I recently went on our vacation to Costa Rica I was worried that we were going to miss out on the Christmas season by being somewhere warm for December. Yes I know that was bit silly but it was how I felt being away from home and snow in December. Once we start our travels and started seeing all the Christmas trees and decorations up we made it our goal to get picture with every Christmas tree that was at place we were staying or spending some quality time at! It added a little extra to our vacation and kept us in the Christmas spirit with the 30+ weather. The gallery above shows most of the christmas tree we saw.
This year is the first Christmas I will be having that I will not see any of immediate family (parents or brother). It has felt strange at times especially because I know they are all together right now. I choose to be positive about it though: – it is 1st Christmas Jake and I get to spend together that is just the two of us. We get to create new traditions together and share in the magic of Christmas. I think as you get older it becomes right of passage that you stop spending all our holidays with our parents. The time becomes split between different families. This to me can be both a positive and negative but I am choosing to view it in the most positive way I can. Instead of having just one family’s traditions I now get two families. Which means twice the christmas decorations, baking, presents and most importantly quality time with family and friends. I love seeing what Jake’s family traditions are and what makes them smile and sparkle at Christmas time.
On Christmas Eve this year Jake toke me around to see the houses in our city which were fully decorated. It was very special! It was so important for me to do some festive activities and get in the Christmas spirit on Christmas eve. It made me feel very loved and that we are creating a life for us filled our own traditions and memories. The houses we saw were inspiring, the most amazing ones we saw had their lights timed to music either on speakers outside or by tuning in on radio station. I truly love it! We are completely in the Christmas spirit now!! Couldn’t be happier!!
